The Brabham BT52 is a British Formula 1 car that was presented in the 1983 season and competed in F1 races only this season. Its designer was Gordon Murray. The Brabham BT52 was powered by a single 1.5-liter BMW M12 / 13 12-cylinder engine with a maximum power of over 800hp, which, however, was reduced to 640-700hp for Grand Prix racing. The Brabham BT52 was developed in conjunction with the introduction by FISA (fr. Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile) a ban on the use of the surface effect in F1 cars. This ban forced the Brabham team to abandon the development of the BT51 and develop a completely new car. The Brabham BT52 had very short and narrow side sections, and it also had well-resolved aerodynamics. It also had a high rear spoiler, and the body was made of aluminum and carbon fibers. The vehicle turned out to be very successful, especially after minor adjustments to the BT52B model. In total - BT52 and BT52B - took part in 15 Grand Prix races - in four of them they won. Brabham BT52 driver Nelson Piquet won the Drivers' World Championship in 1983.
