The 1S12 / P-40 Agata is a Soviet mobile early search radar from the Cold War period. Work on this device probably started in 1960, and it entered service in the Soviet Army in 1963. In order to shorten the research and development work, the undercarriage of the AT-T tracked artillery tractor was used, but it was extended. The drive was provided by a single diesel engine with a capacity of 465 HP, which allowed to reach a top speed of 55 km / h. The body was constructed in such a way as to minimize the effects of operations in areas where previously weapons of mass destruction were used. The 1S12 / P-40 Agata served in Soviet air defense units, and its main purpose was to detect and track airborne objects and determine their coordinates. The radar of the 1S12 / P-40 Agata complex was a centimeter radar generating up to 800 pulses per second. The complex was able to detect a target flying at an altitude of 10,000 meters at a distance of 175 kilometers.
