Gangut was a Russian battleship (so-called dreadnought) from World War I, the interwar period and World War II. The keel was laid under this vessel in 1909, the launch took place in October 1911, and its commissioning in January 1915. The full displacement of the ship at the time of launching was about 25,000 tons, her length - 181.2 meters, and width - 26.9 meters. The maximum speed of the vessel did not exceed 24 knots. The ship's deck armament at the time of launching consisted of: 12 305 mm guns, 16 120 mm guns and 4 450 mm torpedo tubes. The Gangut was the leading unit of the battleship class of the same name - the Gangut. The ships of this type were the first dreadnought battleships in the history of the Russian navy. They were built primarily for operation in the Baltic Sea, and their main enemy was seen in the rapidly expanding German fleet. The gang was built at the Admiralty Shipyard in Petrograd (today's Saint Petersburg). After entering service, he was assigned to the 1st Brigade of Line Ships operating in the Baltic Sea. The battleship, however, took a limited part in World War I. In 1925, the unit was renamed Oktyabrskaya Riewolucyja (Russian: October Revolution). The battleship took an active part in the Winter War with Finland (1939-1940). In the years 1941-1944 it took part in the defense of Leningrad, during which it was damaged several times - mainly as a result of German air attacks. The battleship luckily survived the war, and in 1954 was reclassified as a training ship. Two years later (1956), he was decommissioned.
