MGM-29 SERGEANT - AMERYKAŃSKI POCISK BALISTYCZNY

The MGM-29 Sergeant was a US Cold War tactical ballistic missile (BSRBM). Missiles of this type were powered by solid fuel. The curb weight of the projectile was 4,600 kilograms at 10.52 meters in length. The operational range was 135-140 kilometers. The missile was able to carry a single W52 (M65) nuclear warhead up to 200 kilotons or a conventional warhead. The MGM-29 missiles remained in active service in the years 1962-1979. The MGM-29 Sergeant was developed at the Jet Propulssioon Laboratory, and the Sperry Utah Company facilities were responsible for its production. From 1962, it replaced the MGM-5 Corporal missiles in the line. Compared to its predecessor, it had a slightly improved range and was characterized by significantly better accuracy. The MGM-29 could be fired from mobile launchers, and its main task was to support own units at the corps level and destroy manpower as well as vehicles of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. The MGM-29 was used by the Bundeswehr (only with a conventional warhead) and the US Army in West Germany, Italy and South Korea. Missiles of this type have been replaced in line by MGM-52 Lance missiles.
