Fiat Terni Tripoli is an Italian armored car from the interwar period and the early phase of World War II. The vehicle was powered by a single 36 HP Fiat 53A engine. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1918, and serial production continued in 1918-1919. About 15 vehicles of this type were built in its course. The car is armed with a single 6.5mm Fiat-Revelli machine gun in a rotating turret. Fiat Terni Tripoli was designed for use by Italian troops in North African colonies. The design of the new car is based on the chassis of the Fiat 15b truck. The armor of the car did not exceed 6 millimeters and it protected the crew only against small arms fire. Cars of this type, very quickly after production, were sent to Cyrenaica and Tripolitania, where they proved themselves in police-type activities. In the mid-1930s, however, they were transferred to the reserve. With the outbreak of World War II, several of them were returned to service, with their bodies being transferred to the more modern chassis of Fiat SPA-38R trucks, and their armament with the 12.7 mm Breda-Safat machine gun. However, all vehicles modernized in this way were lost at the beginning of the 1940-1943 North African campaign.
