Żubr A80 is a Polish truck that was first presented to the public in 1960. Its serial production was carried out in the years 1960-1968 and was concentrated in Jelczańskie Zakłady Samochodowe. In total, about 7,000 copies of this car were made. Żubr A80 was the first self-produced truck of this manufacturer. When designing it, the aim was to create a car with a possibly large load capacity of up to 7.5 tons, which would satisfy the needs of the domestic market of transport vehicles, which in the 1950s was dominated by vehicles with a capacity of up to 4 tons. Initially, it was decided to use the S-56 engine with a capacity of 140 HP as the drive, which was later replaced with the S-560 engine with a capacity of 180 HP. Both units were mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The production of a dump truck and a tractor unit was also planned. In the course of operation, the Żubr A80 turned out to be a highly emergency vehicle, the biggest problems were the S-56 engine and the rear suspension. The driver's working comfort also turned out to be low. Despite attempts to remedy these shortcomings, it has not been possible to eliminate them. The car was replaced by more successful Jelcz 300 series cars.
