The Rumpler CI was a German reconnaissance aircraft and a light bomber in a mixed biplane design with a fixed landing gear from the First World War. The drive was provided by a single engine Mercedes D.III with a power of 160 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in 1915 and in the same year mass production began, which lasted until 1917. The deck armament consisted of two 7.92 mm LMG 08/15 machine guns. The plane could take a load of bombs weighing up to 100 kilograms. CI was created as a development of other Rumpler planes: BI and B.II. It differed from its ancestors mainly in improved aerodynamics, structure reinforcement and extended flight endurance. The first Rumpler CI machines began to hit the front in 1916. Initially, they were used on the Western Front, but over time, units serving on the Eastern Front and in Macedonia also began to be equipped with them. They also found their way to the Middle East, Palestine, where they were used as light bombers in the colors of Turkish air force. After the end of World War I, machines of this type were used by the Polish armed forces, they took part in the Polish-Bolshevik war (1919-1921). By 1922, they were withdrawn from service in the Polish aviation.
