Ipopliarchos Troupakis is a modern Greek rocket cutter. The vessel was built at the French shipyard Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie in the city of Cherbourg, and it was accepted into service with the Greek Navy in November 1977. The ship is 56.2 meters long and 7.9 meters wide. Full displacement reaches about 430 tons and maximum speed - about 36-37 knots. The on-board armament, at the time of launch, consisted of: 2 76 mm OTO Melara guns, 4 Exocet MM38 missile launchers and torpedo tubes. Ipopliarchos Troupakis is one of four La Combattante III class ships. Units of this type were ordered by the Greek Navy in France in 1974. They are very similar to La Combattante II units, but they are larger than them and have the ability to use torpedoes. It is worth noting that in 1978, six La Combattante III b class units were built in Greek shipyards, which instead of Exocet missiles used Penguin Mk. II. At the beginning of the 21st century, units of these types were modernized, including the use of a new battlefield management system, a new radar and new information exchange components.
