The Sukhoi Su-1 was a Soviet low-wing prototype fighter from the interwar period and World War II. The prototype flight took place in 1940, but the machine did not enter serial production. The drive was provided by a single Klimov M-105P engine with a capacity of 1049 HP. The length of the aircraft was 8.42 meters with a wingspan of 11.5 meters. The deck armament consisted of two 7.62 mm machine guns and two 20 mm SzVAK cannons. Design work on the Su-1 began in 1939, with the goal of creating an interceptor with the best possible performance - especially maximum speed and rate of climb. The aircraft constructor (Paweł Suchoj) decided to use a classic low wing system with a duralumin coating and used two turbochargers in the engine. The tests of the aircraft took place in 1940-1941, but they showed numerous imperfections of the structure, as well as the fact that without the turbochargers turned on (which were highly emergency), the performance of the machine is almost identical to the Yak-1. The machine was not entered into production, and its second prototype was used to construct the Su-3 aircraft.
