The Hispano Aviacion HA-1109 was a Spanish low-wing fighter from World War II and the Cold War. The drive - in the HA-1109-J1L version - was provided by a single motor Hispano-Suiza HS-89-12Z with a power of 1,300 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1945. The on-board armament consisted of two 20mm Hispano-Suiza 404/408 cannons and 80mm unguided missiles. The Spanish government started work on the licensed production of Messerschmitt Me-109 G-2 aircraft in 1942. Many elements of this machine - especially the engines - were to be imported from Germany. However, under war conditions it was very difficult, or even impossible, which led to the licensing of the Hispano Aviacion HA-1109, but with a power unit produced in Spain, a different propeller and a slightly modified front part of the fuselage. In total, two versions of the plane were created. The first (designation: HA-1109-J1L) was powered by an engine Hispano-Suiza HS-89-12Z. About 25 copies of this version were built, but it was never used operationally. Second version (designation: HA-1109-K1L) had a different power unit Hispano-Suiza 12Z-17, and was created by rebuilding the previous version.
