Aviat Eagle (another designation: Christen Eagle) is a modern American aerobatic aerobatic plane in the biplane system with a fixed landing gear. The drive - in the Eagle II model - is provided by a single Lycoming AEIO-360-A1D engine with 200 HP. The prototype flight took place in 1977. The Christen Eagle was developed by Christem Industries (now part of Aviat Aircraft) as a DIY airplane. It is an expensive machine, requiring a lot of work when folding, but it is characterized by good steering and stability. It is also easy to fly. In the civil market, the plane competes with the Pitts Special. The company developed two versions of the aircraft: Eagle I (single-seater, powered by the Lycoming AEIO-540 engine) and Eagle II (two-seater, powered by a different engine). The Eagle I 540 version, powered by a 300 HP engine, was also produced in two copies.
