The Polikarpov I-190 was a prototype Soviet fighter aircraft from the Second World War. The prototype's flight took place in 1939, but the machine never entered mass production. The machine was powered by a single M-88V engine with a capacity of 1100 HP. The length of the aircraft was 6.48 meters with a wingspan of 10 meters. The deck armament was to consist of four 7.62 mm machine guns or two 20 mm cannons. The Polikarpov I-190 is based on the mass-produced I-153 Czajka fighter. Several improvements were made to the new machine, and most of all, a new engine with much more power was used. The aim was to create a light and relatively small fighter with very high maneuverability and a good maximum speed. The machine took off and showed good flight properties, but it was clearly inferior in terms of maximum speed to domestic low-wing fighters or foreign designs. This fact, combined with the prototype crash in 1941, prevented the machine from being put into mass production.
