The Kamov Ka-226 is a modern Russian multi-role mixed construction helicopter with a fixed, four-support landing gear. The prototype flight took place in 1997. Serial production started in 2001. The drive is usually provided by two motors Rolls-Royce Allison 250-C20R2 with a power of 450 HP each, but it is also possible to use other engines, such as Turbomeca Arrius. The machine is 8.1 meters long and has a rotor diameter of 13 meters. The Ka-226 helicopter was developed in the design office in the classic coaxial arrangement for this manufacturer, with two rotors placed one above the other, without a rotor on the tail beam. The machine was created to replace the Ka-26 helicopter and it was assumed that it would perform similar reconnaissance and transport tasks or it would be used to transport passengers. Compared to its predecessor, the Ka-226 received significantly more powerful engines, improved aerodynamics, and received much richer avionics. The performance of the machine has also improved - especially the flight range. The main recipient of the helicopter is various uniformed services of the Russian Federation, but also India, which - according to 2018 data - they intend to undertake its license production.
