The 95th Rifle Regiment of Foot (colloquial name: Green Jackets) is a British infantry regiment from the Napoleonic Wars, which was formed in 1800 and operated under that name until 1816. The unit was initially set up as an experimental unit, but by 1803 it was already an active regiment of the British armed forces. The 95th Rifle Regiment of Foot was unique due to several factors. First of all, it was probably the only foot unit in the British army during the Napoleonic era, which instead of traditional red uniformed jackets wore green jackets, hence the colloquial name Green Jackets. Moreover, it was the first regiment in the British army to use rifled weapons - Baker rifles. The training of the unit was also much more practical and put less emphasis, for example, on parade drill, than in other units of British troops. The 95th Rifle Regiment of Foot served with considerable success in the course of the fighting in the Peninsula. Iberian (1807-1814), and some of its units also fought at Waterloo. In 1816, the regiment was converted into a brigade and remained in the line as Rifle Brigade until 1966.
