Z 5 is a Dutch torpedo boat from the interwar period and World War II. The keel for this unit was laid in 1914, the launch took place in 1915, and entry into service took place in 1917. The length of the ship was 58.5 meters and a width of 6.06 meters. The displacement reached approx. 270 tons and the maximum speed - up to 26-27 knots. The deck armament included two 75 mm guns and four 450 mm torpedo tubes. The crew of the unit consisted of 46 people. The Z 5 torpedo boat was built for the needs of the Dutch Navy to operate primarily in their home waters, and therefore in the North Sea in particular. For this reason, the ship had a relatively limited autonomy, but as at the beginning of the 20th century - it had a considerable maximum speed. In 1931, the vessel was converted into a training ship, and by the outbreak of World War II it was already definitely obsolete. However, in May 1940, he was evacuated to Great Britain and served as an escort there. In 1943, he entered service with the Royal Navy as HMS Blade. Two years later, he was decommissioned.
