COLONEL OF 15TH LANCER REGIMENT DUCHY OF WARSAW

Chronologically, the first units of lancers (lancers) in the army of the Duchy of Warsaw were the 2nd and 6th regiments formed in 1806. After the signing of the peace in Schönbrunn in October 1809, which ended the war with Austria, more lancers' regiments were formed, including the 11th Uhlans Regiment of the XW (abbreviation of the Duchy of Warsaw). In full-time, each of the XW lancer regiments was supposed to have about 1,200-1300 soldiers, but in practice - due to disease and combat losses - the actual states were often 600-700 people. Of course, each regiment was divided into squadrons. It is also worth adding that the basic armament of the XW lancers / lancers was a lance, as well as a saber and a pair of pistols in olders. XW uhlan regiments - together or individually - were intensively used in the period 1807-1815 and took part in many battles, for example, they fought at: Grochów (1809), Możajskie (1812) or Dennewitz (1813).
