French 7th Hussars Regiment (fr. 7e Regiment de Hussards ) was formed in November 1792, but was originally called Hussards de Lamothe. It was given its final name a little later - in June 1793. The regiment took a very active part in the revolutionary wars of France (1792-1799) and during the Napoleonic wars (1799-1815). It was baptized into battle during the Battle of Pirmasens in 1793, and a year later it took part in the siege of Mainz. In 1800, the 7th Hussars Regiment fought in Germany, taking part in the battles at Feldkirch or Salzburg. The unit fought at Austerlitz (1805) and - especially - at one (1806), where the regiment did a great job. In 1809, the unit fought at Wagram. In 1812, the 7th Hussars Regiment took part in the Russian campaign, where it suffered - like the entire Grand Army - huge losses. Despite significant blood loss, the unit did well in the battle of Hanau (1813) and Vauchamps (1814). During the Napoleonic Wars, the 7th Hussar Regiment ended its combat route with the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
