World Trade Center, or WTC for short, is a complex of seven buildings in total, located in Manhattan, New York City, in the United States. The main buildings of the complex were the so-called Twin Towers. The building complex was designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, and the construction of the building lasted from 1966 to 1973. The taller of the towers, the northern one was 417 meters high, and the second - the southern one - a little less - 415 meters. At the time of commissioning, they were the tallest buildings in the world, and they held this title for two years. The building complex became the target of a terrorist attack in 1993, when a van filled with explosives exploded in the basement. As a result of this attack, 6 people died, but the building survived it. Unfortunately, on September 11, 2001, the WTC became the target of a second terrorist attack organized and carried out by Al-Qaeda. As a result, 2,973 people died and the Twin Towers collapsed.
