The T.39 is a series of narrow-gauge steam locomotives (steam locomotives), which were produced in the periods 1919-1920 and 1925-1926 at the Orenstein und Koppel plants based in Berlin. The length of a single locomotive was 9.3 meters, and the service weight from 40 to 44 tons. The diameter of the wheels was 820 mm, and the locomotive had Eh2T axles. The T.39 steam locomotives in the first production series (1919-1920) were built as industrial locomotives and intended to haul light freight trains on German railways, but due to the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles, they found their way to Poland, where they were intensively used on the Upper Silesian Narrow Gauge Railways (GKW), where they were slightly modernized by adding the so-called Lutermoller gears. Despite some limitations, the T.39 locomotives turned out to be so successful designs that GKW ordered another series of these locomotives (designation T.39N), but with an enlarged wheel diameter and increased axle load.
