REDNECKS

Redneck is a colloquial and offensive term for a person in English with extremely racist and xenophobic views and clearly cherishing traditional models of social behavior and attitudes. Very often in the United States, this is also the name given to people with a low level of education, often showing secondary illiteracy. It is worth adding that this term appeared as early as the nineteenth century to describe poor farmers from the southern US states, such as Alabama, Tennessee or Georgia. Synonymous terms in relation to redneck are, for example, hillbilly or cracker. At the end of the 20th century, the highly offensive synonym of "white trash" began to be used. It is worth adding that in the southern US states, the term "redneck" is now often used to emphasize local identity and has definitely lost its negative connotation in this area.
