The Cimmerians, which may surprise fans of fantasy literature, were a nomadic people confirmed in written and archaeological sources, originating in sources around 1000 BC in the areas of, among others, today's southern Russia, Ukraine and northern Romania. In the 8th-7th centuries BC, the Cimer family probably entered into military interactions with the state of Urartu, Phrygia and the state of Lydia. In the 7th century BC, they also became a threat to the neo-Assyrian state. The historic people of the Kimeros were known for their bravery, courage on the battlefield and the use of very good quality white weapons. Considering the above, it is not surprising that this people was also portrayed in fantasy literature - Conan the Barbarian, among others, was supposed to come from them. The writer RE Howard can be considered the creator of the latter character. It is worth adding that this writer set almost all Conan's adventures in the so-called The Hyborian Age. In the works of Howard, the Kimers are portrayed as mighty warriors, with considerable physical strength, knowing no fear on the battlefield, but also able to use stratagems and deceptions. It can be assumed - following Howard's stories - that the Cimerowie formed a clan community in which no central authority functioned.
