The USS Terror (MC-5) was an American seagoing mine-builder, the keel of which was laid in September 1940, launched in June 1941, and was completely completed in July 1942. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 138.6 m, width 18.3 m, with a displacement of approx. 5,900 tons. The maximum speed did not exceed 21 knots. At the time of launch, the unit was armed with: 4 127 mm guns, 4 quadruple 28 mm AA guns and 14 20 mm AA guns. The USS Terror (MC-5) was built at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and the first major operation it participated in was supporting the landing of Allied troops in North Africa as part of Operation Torch in November 1942. At the end of 1943, the unit was transferred to the Pacific, where, among other things, it carried out mining operations in the Marshall Island area and briefly took part in operations in the Iwo-Jima area in February 1945. In May 1945, the USS Terror (MC-5) survived its first kamikaze attack. The unit remained in the line until the end of World War II, however, it did not take part in the Korean War (1950-1953), and in 1956 it was withdrawn into reserve. In 1971, the ship was sold for scrap.
