Le Corse (F761) is a French frigate (fr. escorteurs rapide) the keel was laid in March 1952, was launched in August of the same year, and entry into service with the Marine Nationale took place in 1955. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 99.8 m, width 10.3 m, with a full displacement of approximately 1,700 tons. The maximum speed was 27 knots. At the beginning of service, the unit was armed with: 6 57mm guns, 2 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns or 4 triple 550mm torpedo tubes. Le Corse (F761) was the first of four frigates to belong to the class of the same name, the Le Corse. They were the first ships built in France after the end of World War II and were a kind of symbol of the rebuilding of the Marine Nationale after this military conflict. The ships were designed to perform primarily escort and convoy tasks. They received strong, for the 1950s, anti-aircraft armament and ZOP (anti-submarine warfare). The units were also distinguished by high maximum speed compared to other frigates and escort units. The Le Corse frigate (F761) was built at the Arsenal de Lorient shipyard in Lorient, Brittany. She remained in service until the early 1970s, and was destroyed as a target ship in 1975.
