USS Fargo (CL-106) was an American light cruiser that was launched in February 1945 and was finalized in December of the same year. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 186 m, width 20.2 m, with a standard displacement of approx. 11,900 tons. The maximum speed was up to 32-33 knots. The armament of the unit at the time of launching mainly consisted of: 12 152 mm anti-aircraft guns, 12 127 mm AA guns and 4 quadruple 40 mm AA guns. The ship could also operate with 4 seaplanes. The USS Fargo (CL-106) was the lead unit of the cruiser class of the same name (ie the Fargo). The Fargo-class ships were essentially a modernized Cleveland class, differing mainly in the design of their superstructures, their shape, and better anti-aircraft armament. They were also distinguished by significantly better stability and better placed center of gravity of the whole structure. Generally, however, both classes had very similar combat capabilities. The USS Fargo (CL-106) was constructed at the New York Shipbuilding Corporation in Camden, NJ. Due to the date of entry into service, the unit did not take part in World War II. In the period 1946-1947, however, it visited numerous ports in the Mediterranean basin, and in 1950 it was withdrawn into the reserve, and in 1971 it was scrapped.
