The Type 35 is the name of a class of German torpedo boats that entered service with the German Navy (hereinafter: MW) in 1938-1940. A single ship of this type was 84.3 meters long and 8.62 meters wide. Full displacement did not exceed 1,150 tons, and the maximum speed was around 35 knots. The armament consisted of: a single 105mm cannon, a single 37mm anti-aircraft gun, 2 AA cannons. 20 mm caliber, 2 triple 533 mm torpedo tubes and up to 60 min. The Type 35 torpedo boats were designed primarily as very fast, seagoing vessels, while maintaining a relatively small size. Ultimately, however, ships of this type turned out to be moderately successful, mainly due to problems with the propulsion system and considerable problems with its repair or maintenance on the high seas. The Type 35 torpedo boats did not take part in the campaigns against Poland in 1939 and Norway in 1940. From the summer of 1940, ships of this type began to perform patrol and mine laying tasks in the North Sea and the English Channel. In 1941, the units underwent major reconstructions, and at least a few of them participated in supporting Operation Barbarossa. Some of them were transferred to the Kriegsmarine reserve in 1941, and 4 ships of this type were directed to France. Most of the units in the period 1942-1943 were assigned to training tasks. In 1944, all Type 35 torpedo boats were directed to the Baltic Sea to support German actions against the advancing Red Army. In the period 1944-1945, as many as 8 ships of this class were lost as a result of air attacks and mine entry. Only 4 units survived the war.
