The Yasukawa Maru was a Japanese transport ship, the keel of which was laid in 1930 and launched in December of the same year. The total length of the vessel at the time of launching was approximately 137 m, width approximately 18.6 m, and displacement - 6,770 tons. In 1941, the ship was armed with 6 Type 88 75 mm anti-aircraft guns and 8 AA guns. cal. 20 mm. The Yasukawa Maru was originally called Silvercypress and was built for the British shipping line Silver Line as an ocean-going passenger and transport vessel. In 1937, while Silvercypress was in the Philippines, a very serious fire broke out there, almost causing the ship to sink. After the fire was extinguished, the unit was towed to Japan to be sold for scrap, but there it was bought by one of the Japanese shipowners and thoroughly renovated. The name has also changed - from Silvercypress to Yasukawa Maru. Under this name, the ship was confiscated by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1941 and after the reconstruction, it began to be used for transporting troops, primarily in Chinese waters. However, in December 1941 it was used in landing operations in the Philippines, and in early 1942 - in operations against the then Dutch East Indies. Yasukawa Maru was sunk on November 2, 1942 as a result of an American air attack.
