HMS Daring (H16) was a British destroyer, the keel of which was laid in June 1931, launched in April 1932, and was completely completed in November of the same year. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 100.3 m, width 10.1 m, with a standard displacement of about 1,400 tons. In turn, the maximum speed was up to 36 knots. The ship's armament included: 4 120 mm Mark IX guns, 2 40 mm AA guns, and 2 quadruple 533 mm torpedo tubes. HMS Daring (H16) was one of the D-class destroyers, which - with C-class destroyers - were a development of the B-type units. Compared to the latter, they were characterized by larger dimensions, improved anti-aircraft weapons and a coherent and modern artillery fire control system at that time. main. Compared to the C-class, it had developed ZOP (anti-submarine fighting) capabilities with basically the same design and overall size. HMS Daring (H16) spent almost all his service in the Royal Navy operating from the base in Singapore (1934-1939). Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, the unit was directed to the Mediterranean Sea, temporarily operating in the Red Sea (September-November 1939). In 1940, it was moved to the home waters, and from February that year it carried out convoy tasks. HMS Daring (H16) was sunk on February 18, 1940 as a result of torpedoing by the German U-23 submarine.
