The Cuttlefish was a Polish mine and gas ship from the interwar period and World War II. The total length was 35 meters and the width was 5.24 meters. The displacement was around 61 tons and the maximum speed was around 7 knots. The armaments included, among others: a single 7.92 mm machine gun and up to 160 min. The cuttlefish was originally a Russian river crypt called K-5, which was taken over by Polish troops in 1920. Five years later, the vessel was renovated, the engine and weapons were installed, and a new name was also given - just Mątwa. The unit also became the flagship of the Mining and Gas Division. During the September campaign, the unit was tasked with blocking the entrances to Pripyat by building minefields. However, on September 17, Cuttlefish started its retreat towards Pinsk. Due to the impossibility of carrying out this task, it was sunk by its own crew a day later (09/18/1939). However, the unit was quickly lifted from the bottom by the Soviets, renovated, rearmed and from July 1940 served in the Soviet Pinsk Flotilla. The unit served in the initial period of the German-Soviet war, but was sunk in August 1941.
