RENAULT R8 GORDINI

The Renault R8 (other designation: Renault 8) is a French lower-middle class passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1962. Its serial production started in the same year and continued until 1973. Production took place in several cities around the world, but the main production plants were in Flins, France. The R8 model was developed and put into production by the Renault concern to replace the Dauphine model. Compared to its predecessor, the new model had a changed body style, richer equipment and was powered by other power units. It is worth noting that it was the first car in its class to offer disc brakes for the front and rear wheels as standard equipment. The car turned out to be successful and was quite successful on the market. In 1964, its rally version was presented - the Renault 8 Gordini, initially powered by a 90 HP engine, and later by 104 HP. The model also had a modified gearbox. It is worth adding that Renault R8 was produced under license in Bulgaria, Spain and Romania. In the offer of the Renault concern it was replaced by the 12 model.
