Thonier Armor (another name: dandy or dundee) is a type of sailing fishing boat that could be found in the waters, especially in the Bay of Biscay and in the Atlantic, until the second half of the 20th century. The total length of a single boat of this type was up to 28.5 m, with the hull length not exceeding 19-20 meters. The overall width was usually 5.7 meters. The maximum speed did not exceed 7 knots. Dundee fishing boats appeared around 1880 in Brittany and were used primarily for offshore tuna fishing. The final form of this type of boat was developed around 1905. They were characterized by having two masts and a relatively extensive sails, which, however, could be set up or rolled up relatively quickly. In the interwar period, boats of this type became a kind of symbol of fishing in France. It is assumed that in the 1930s, about 870 boats of this type operated in Brittany!
