HCP 111A is the designation of a series of standard-gauge passenger carriages, which was produced in the years 1969-1989 in the Hipolit Cegielski in Poznań (abbreviated: HCP). The service weight of a single wagon was 39.5 tons, and its total length was up to 24.5 meters with a width of 2.91 meters. The car provides 80 seats with 170 seats altogether. The 111A wagon was designed as a 2nd class wagon, currently operated by PKP Intercity (PKP IC) and Przewozy Regionalne sp. Z o. O. The wagon was created as a development of the 104A model. It differs from its predecessor mainly by the significantly increased number of seats or the increased service weight. In the course of long production, many versions and modernizations of the 111A wagon were created, and further modernizations continued even after its completion. Examples include the far-reaching modernization carried out by the PESA plants in 2010 (161A, 162A and 163A cars) or Newag in 2013 (168A cars). In the period 1969-1989, 2,825 units of the HCP 111A wagon were produced, which makes it the longest series of wagons produced in Poland.
