Horten H IV was a German, experimental glider from the Second World War in a flying wing configuration. The first glider of this type took to the air in 1941. In the period 1941-1943, a total of four examples of this glider were built. The H IV was developed and constructed by the brothers Reimer and Walter Horten in order to check and test the possibilities and aerodynamic problems posed by the use of a flying wing system in the aircraft. The glider was relatively low and its pilot had to lie in a cramped cabin with limited visibility from it. In the construction of the Horten H IV, metal elements were used to a small extent, mainly based on wood and canvas. After the end of World War II, all flying copies of this glider were transported to Great Britain and the USA, where they were subjected to a series of tests.
