Nawarin (Navarin) was a Russian battleship (pre-dreadnought), the keel of which was laid in May 1890, launched in October 1891, and commissioned in 1896. The vessel was 105.9 meters long and 20.4 meters wide. Full displacement reached about 10,200 tons, and the maximum speed was around 15-16 knots. The ship's armament included: 4 305 mm guns, 8 152 mm guns and 14 47 mm rapid-fire guns. The Navarin was the only ship of her class, and the then Franco-Russian Works in Saint Petersburg (now: the Admiralty Shipyard) were responsible for its construction. The design of the unit shows quite a clear inspiration for the British Trafalgar battleships - it is noticeable in the configuration and distribution of weapons on the ship, as well as in the relatively low side. It was created as part of the Russian fleet expansion program in 1881. The unit, shortly after entering service, was part of the Baltic Fleet, and in 1900 it was sent to the Far East to support the suppression of the Boxer Uprising. The battleship took part in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, including the Battle of Tsushima in 1905. In its course, the battleship was seriously damaged as a result of landing on mines and sank shortly after.
