Vladimir Monomakh (Vladimir Monomakh) was a Russian armored cruiser, the keel of which was laid in February 1881, launched in October 1882, and commissioned in 1883. The vessel was 90.3 meters long and 15.9 meters wide. The displacement was around 5,600 tons, and the maximum speed was around 15-16 knots. The ship's armament, shortly after entering service, consisted of: 4 203 mm guns or 12 152 mm guns. Vladimir Monomach was built at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, based on a slightly modified design of the armored cruiser Minin. It was assumed that in the event of a war the unit would carry out privateer tasks against the enemy's merchant shipping - implicitly: Great Britain. In the years 1888-1889, the ship underwent the first modernization, which, among other things, consisted in the installation of more modern main artillery, and in the period 1896-1897 the second modernization, which significantly changed its main armament and resulted in the installation of completely new masts. In the years 1898-1902, the unit operated mainly in the Far East, and around 1901-1902 there were plans to convert it into a training ship. However, the outbreak of war with Japan thwarted these plans. Vladimir Monomach, in the course of this war, was assigned to the 3rd Pacific Ocean Squadron. He took part in the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905, sustaining very serious damage there, as a result of which he was self-sinking by his own crew on the day of that great naval battle.
