The D-2 was a prototype Soviet armored draisine (sometimes called a railway armored car) from the interwar period and World War II. This type of draisine was built in the 1930s, but it did not enter mass production. It was armed with two 76.2 mm cannons and six Maxim machine guns and a DT 7.62 mm caliber. The drive was provided by a single combustion engine with a capacity of 93 HP, enabling acceleration to approx. 75 km / h. It was assumed that the operating radius would be approx. 500 kilometers. The D-2 draisine was developed as a self-propelled, two-axle armored draisine capable of taking on Echelon convoy tasks on strategically important railway lines, as well as for independent patrol tasks. It was also assumed that the draisine would be able to enter into direct fire contact with light enemy forces. For this reason, it received relatively strong armament - especially when it comes to machine guns, and its main armament was placed in two turrets. The draisine also had a radio in stock.
