Pravda (other markings: class P) is the name of a class of Soviet diesel-electric submarines from the interwar period and World War II. The first unit of this type was launched in 1934 or 1935. In total, only 3 out of 4 planned units of this type were built. The Pravda-class ship was 90 m long and had a displacement of approximately 1,870 tons. The maximum surface speed is approximately 20-21 knots. The ships of this type had two 100mm cannons, a single 45mm cannon, and six torpedo tubes. Pravda-class ships were primarily built as training units and were used very little as transport units during World War II. Ships of this type had a very low immersion depth, had too weak propulsion devices - especially when marching underwater - and a very long descent time. They were also characterized by rather poor sea prowess. They were considered not very successful ships. In total, three ships of this type were built: P1 (Pravda), P2 (Zvezda) and P3 (Iskra). The first one was sunk in September 1941, and the other two were scrapped in 1952 and 1956.
