The VK 3002 (DB) was a prototype German medium tank from the Second World War. The only prototype of the vehicle appeared in 1942, but the car did not enter serial production. The drive was provided by a single MB507 engine with a capacity of 650 HP. It was armed with a single 75mm KwK 42 L / 70 gun and two 7.92mm MG34 machine guns. The encounter with the Soviet T-34 and KW-1 tanks in the summer of 1941 made the German command of the land forces realize the creation of a vehicle capable of fighting these vehicles on an equal footing. The design work for the new German medium tank was commissioned to Daimler-Benz and MAN. The first of these companies, responding to the order, created a prototype tank VK 3002 (DB), which with the shape of the hull, turret and general concept was confusingly similar to the T-34. However, it was armed with a very good 75mm KwK 42 anti-tank gun. In the summer of 1942, comparative tests were carried out between the designs of both companies (ie Daimler-Benz and MAN), the winning ones were the design of the MAN company, which received the designation Pz.Kpfw V Panther. Thus, the VK 3002 (DB) tank never entered mass production.
