The Crowdy Head lighthouse was built in its present shape in 1878, but in the 1960s there were buildings of similar purpose in the same place. The lighthouse is located near Harrington, New South Wales, Australia. It was built to facilitate navigation and navigation at the mouth of the Manning River. Crowdy Head Lighthouse was designed and built by James Barnet, who created four more similar lighthouses in Australia between 1878 and 1880. The lighthouse tower is only 7.3 meters high, but including the hill on which it is located, it rises 61 meters above sea level. Its range of white light is 16 nautical miles (NM), and red light is 13 NM. In 1928 the lighthouse was mechanized and automated to a large extent, and since 1972 the light projected by the lighthouse has become electric light. Interestingly, flying is still active and used for its original purpose.
