The NAMC YS-11 was a post-war Japanese post-war passenger and transport aircraft in a full metal low wing structure. The drive was provided - in the basic version - by two turboprop engines Rolls-Royce Dart Mk.542-10K 3030 hp each. The first flight of this machine took place in 1962. In the years 1962-1974 serial production continued, which led to the creation of about 180 aircraft of this type. The NAMC YS-11 was developed by a consortium of many Japanese companies (eg Sumitomo or Kawasaki Heavy Industries), on the initiative of the Japanese government, as a medium-range passenger machine dedicated to local connections. When designing the machine, emphasis was placed on introducing the most extensive electronic equipment and avionics as well as the lowest possible operating costs. Finally, a very successful machine was created, which, having only two engines, offered a flight range and performance similar to the four-engine Vickers Viscount and could take nearly 50% more passengers on board than the competing Fokker F27 Friendship. Several development variants were created in the course of serial production, such as: YS-11A-200 (version with increased curb weight), YS-11A-300 (passenger-transport version) or YS-11A-400 (transport version used by the Japanese Forces Self-Defense). The NAMC YS-11 aircraft was successful on foreign markets and was used by airlines from countries such as the Philippines, Brazil and Argentina.
