The Subaru Legacy (known as Liberty in Australia and New Zealand) is a Japanese middle-class passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1989. Its serial production started in the same year and is still going on. In its course, the car was and is being manufactured in the cities of Ota in Japan and Lafayette in the USA. The Legacy model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of Fuji Heavy Industries (known as Subaru) and to establish a market fight - especially in the United States - with such cars as Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima. Six generations of this model were created in the course of serial production. The newest of them was presented at the Chicago Motor Show in 2014. It is an evolutionary development of the fifth generation in the field of exterior design, while the interior design has become much more conservative. The car is offered with two engine versions: 2.5 and 3.6 liters.
