The Subaru Sambar is a Japanese pickup truck from the kei-car segment that was first presented to the public in 1961. Its serial production started in the same year and continued under the Subaru brand until 2012. In its course, the car was manufactured only in the city of Ota in Japan. The Sambar model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of Fuji Heavy Industries (known as Subaru) and to enter the brand in the kei-car segment, very popular in Japan. Anyway, the car was designed from the very beginning to meet the needs of the domestic market. Subaru Sambar was small from the very beginning, and in the first two generations it was powered by engines with a capacity of only 0.3-0.4 liters. Eight generations of this model were created in the course of serial production. The newest of them was presented in 2014.
