The MD-3 Ground Power is an American outdoor mobile power generator from the early Cold War period. The device as the basic engine to generate electricity used a 6-cylinder internal combustion engine manufactured by Continental with a capacity of 180 HP. In total, two basic versions of this device were created. The first one, designated as MD-3B, was produced at the Consolidated Diesel Electric Company plants and was able to provide both direct current and alternating current with a voltage of 28 V and an amperage of 1000 A. The second version, produced by the International Fermont Machinery Company , was designated as MD-3M and was also able to provide direct and alternating current, but with an intensity of 500 A. Both versions of the MD-3 generator were used in the USAF for ground handling, especially Boeing B-47 Stratojet aircraft, but also other machines for example Lockheed T-33.
