V72025 SOVIET HEAVY TANK IS-7

The IS-7 was a prototype Soviet heavy tank from the period shortly after World War II. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in 1948, but it never entered mass production - only 6 prototypes of this car were created. The vehicle was powered by a single engine M-50T with a power of 1050 hp. It was armed with a 130mm S-70 cannon, 1 14.5mm KPWT machine gun and 2 7.62mm SGMT machine guns. Design works on the IS-7 began in the summer of 1945 at the Leningrad Kirov Works, and its construction was based on both the experience gained from the recently ended World War II and the acquired German documentation. Although some components of the IS-2 and IS-3 vehicles were used in the new car, the structure received a completely new gun, a new turret with better profiled armor, a much more powerful engine and a new suspension. In fact, a completely new tank was created, with powerful armor for that time, good armament, and despite its large mass oscillating around 66-68 tons, it was quite maneuverable. However, in the course of field trials, the new design turned out to be very emergency and extremely fuel-consuming (450 liters of fuel per 100 km!), Which made it impossible to put it into mass production. The entire project - also for political reasons - was canceled in 1949.
