Toti-type units were Italian fighter submarines with classic diesel-electric propulsion, which were in service in the years 1965-1993. A single ship of this type was 46.2 m long and 4.75 m wide, and the underwater displacement slightly exceeded 590 tons. The maximum underwater speed was up to 14-15 knots. The armament consisted of 4 533 mm torpedo tubes. Toti-class submarines were the first units of this type built in Italy after the end of World War II. From the very beginning, they were designed as small units with as much firepower as possible, intended for operations in the coastal zone and in the Mediterranean basin. They can be compared with their purpose and some combat capabilities to the German Type 205. In the Italian Navy, they were replaced by the Gato and Balao class submarines from World War II. In total, the Toti class consisted of 4 units, all of which were built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone. As a curiosity, it can be pointed out that the unit that gave the name to the whole class is on display at the Technical Museum in Milan.
