DISCONTINUED N700101 PLAN TYPE 091 HAN CLASS SUBMARINE

Type 091 (another designation: Han class) is the name of the Chinese nuclear fighter submarine (ANN) class. Units of this type were produced in the years 1970-1990. In total, only five units of this type were built, of which probably three are still in the line. The Type 091 is 98 meters long, 10 meters wide, and has a displacement of approximately 5,500 tons. The maximum underwater speed is approximately 25 knots. The ships have six 533 mm torpedo tubes. The Type 091 ships were developed and put into production as the first ships of this type in the history of the Chinese Navy. It can also be assumed that they were largely developed by Chinese engineers, but mainly using Soviet technology. The first two ships of this type had a very high noise level, but this parameter was improved on later ships. However, the disadvantage of all Han-class ships is very poor insulation of the reactor, which poses a real threat to the health of the crew members. They are currently being replaced in line by the Types 093 and 095 units.
