The Collins-class ships are modern Australian classic (diesel-electric) fighter submarines, which were built in the years 1990-2003. A total of 6 units of this class were created - all of them remain in the line. A single ship of this type is 77.42 meters long and 7.8 meters wide, with an underwater displacement of approximately 3,400 tons. The maximum underwater speed is around 20 knots. The armament consists of 6 bow 553 mm torpedo tubes with a reserve of 22 pieces of weapons in the form of torpedoes and rockets. Collins-class submarines were developed and built for the Australian Navy (MW) to replace the Oberon-class units in line, and their design work began at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. Compared to their predecessors, they received a significantly changed shape of the hull, kiosk, completely different electronic equipment, they were also more automated and probably allow for a greater depth of immersion. It is worth pointing out that the Collins class project was developed in close cooperation with the Swedish Kockums shipyard and shows very many similarities to the class units Västergötland. It should also be noted that units of this type generated problems in the Australian Navy, mainly due to staff shortages and various technical problems. In fact, it was only around 2010 that the above-mentioned weaknesses were overcome. It is assumed that they will remain in the line for sure until the 1930s.
