Jasień (project 885) are modern Russian nuclear powered fighter submarines (ANN). The first unit of this class was launched in 2010. The units are built at the Siewasz shipyard in the city of Severodvinsk. The length of the Jasień-class ship is 139.5 m, the width is 15 m, and the underwater displacement reaches approximately 13,800 tons. The maximum underwater speed almost certainly exceeds 30 knots. The main armament of units of this class is 10 650 mm and 533 mm torpedo tubes and 8 multi-tube launchers for 32 SS-NX-26 (P-800 Onyx) missiles or 40 SS-N-27A or SS-N-30A rockets. The ships of the Jasień class (project 885) were constructed as completely new units combining advanced anti-submarine and surface anti-submarine combat capabilities, standing on the border of the ANN and the SSGN types. When designing the Jasień-class ships, great emphasis was placed on soundproofing the structure and minimizing noise, which was largely successful, incl. by using a pump-jet system. It is assumed that these parameters exceed the capabilities achieved by the American Los Angeles-class ships (including modified ships of this type) and are equal in some respects to the Seawolf-class ships. Jasień class units, on the other hand, have probably lower than the Seawolf class, the so-called tactical speed. The safe depth of immersion for the Jasień-class ships is probably 450-500 m, but perhaps it reaches 600 meters. Project 885 units also have a very rich electronic equipment, with a bow sonar with a large spherical antenna. The cost of building a unit of this type is estimated at approximately $ 1.6 billion. prices from 2014, but these costs will probably increase, as further modifications of ships of this type are planned for 2-3 units.
