Delta II-class ships (or Project 667BD) were Soviet nuclear-powered submarines carrying nuclear-warhead ballistic missiles (SSBN) that were built and launched between 1974 and 1975. In total, 4 ships of this class were built. A single unit of this type was 155 m long and 12 m wide, with an underwater displacement of about 12,750 tons. The maximum underwater speed was up to 24-25 knots. The armament consisted of 16 SS-N-8 ballistic missile launchers and 6 bow 533 mm torpedo tubes. It is debatable whether they also received 400 mm torpedo tubes. The submarines of the Delta II type (Project 667BD) were created as an evolutionary development of the Delta I class. Compared to their predecessors, they were significantly elongated (exactly 16 m) and received 4 additional ballistic missile launchers. In addition, they have more modern electronic equipment and have been better soundproofed. It is assumed that units of this class received external anechoic plates, probably made of special rubber and matched to the shape of the unit. You can also find information that they were the first to receive the modernized SS-N-8 Mod 2 missiles with a range increased from 7,800 km to 9,100 km. Production was carried out at the Severodvinsk shipyard, but was abandoned in favor of Delta III class units. All Project 667BD ships were decommissioned by 1995 or 1996.
