Yuri Dolgoruki is a Russian submarine belonging to the Borej class. Units of this class are nuclear-powered submarines - carriers of ballistic missiles (SSBN), which have been built since 2007. Currently, five ships of the type have been launched, but ships of this type are still being built. The length of the Borej-class ship is 170 m, width 13.5 m, and the underwater displacement is most likely up to about 24,000 tons. The maximum underwater speed is approximately 29 knots. The main armament of units of this class consists of 16 SS-NX-30 ballistic missile launchers (R-30 Buława) and 6 533 mm torpedo tubes. The Borej class ships (Project 955) were constructed as a completely new structure, intended to replace the Delta III and Typhoon class ships in the line. They differ from their predecessors primarily with much richer electronic equipment and even more careful soundproofing, including the use of pump-jet drives. They are also adapted to firing new ballistic missiles (R-30 Bulawa) with a range of up to 8,000 kilometers and capable of carrying up to 6 MIRV warheads. Most likely, the Navy of the Russian Federation will ultimately intend to acquire 8 to 10 units of this type. The ship Yuri Dolgoruki (K-535) was built at the shipyard in the city of Severodvinsk, and it was launched in 2008 and entered service only in 2013. It is the first Borej class ship.
