The G7 torpedo was a German CCG torpedo from the Second World War. The first prototypes of the G7a torpedo were built in the 1930s, and already in 1939 they were standard equipment for U-boats and S-boat torpedo chasers. The length of the G7a torpedo was 716 cm with a diameter of 533 millimeters. The own weight was 1538 kg, and the weight of the warhead was up to approx. 280 kg. The maximum speed did not exceed 44 knots, and the effective range for this speed was 5,000 meters. The G7a torpedo was developed as a development of the G / 7 torpedo used during World War I. Compared to its predecessor, however, it had, among others: a larger diameter, its own weight and could carry a warhead with a greater mass. It was used primarily to destroy enemy surface units. On its basis, the G7e torpedo was developed, which was the most important type of torpedo used by German U-boats during World War II. The G7e torpedo was also systematically modernized, and one of its most important versions was the G7e / T4 Falke with acoustic guidance.
